Goodbye DA, hello future
by The Editor
As this is a new year, it seems appropriate I start it off with a new beginning. Although not directly relevant to this site, which I have always run in my personal capacity, after 12 or so years with the DA I felt it best, as they say, to move on to other things; and so, from 1 January 2013, I made that decision and am no longer working for the party. I shall continue to keep Inside Politics running and we shall see what the future holds. So, expect some exciting, new articles, starting tomorrow and included amongst them some very interesting subjects I think deserve a bit more public attention. Thanks to all the friends I made; to them and everyone else, see you somewhere in the great debate that is South Africa’s future. Goodnight, and good luck.
I’m not sure I like this. “hello future” in the context suggests DA is the past. Not just for you but generally. I don’t mean to play editor but the caption puts the DA in a negative light which, unless you are withholding some information we should all know, is awkward. Inside-politics has, to an extent, been a useful pillar that propped up my personal case for DA philosophy. Want to commend your effort, South Africa is a little better through effort…. but the DA is the future. And this platform is identifiable with DA,
sad obviously sold out or capitulated to the fact that you now accept that SA is now going the same way as the rest of africa. and nothing you do or say will change that. I call it defeatist.
I don’t agree with the previous comments, for what it’s worth…it doesn’t have to mean ANY of that. Best of luck and will be watching more!
Hi Gareth
I’m sorry to hear that you will be moving on from the DA. I wanted to thank you for your early inputs on last year’s Young Leaders Programme as well as for your tireless efforts on the blog, which really enhanced the cause of liberalism in SA.
Do you have any idea what you will be doing next? All the best with your new endeavours.
Regards David
My, my, what a reactionary lot some of you are. Abner and Raymond, relax, such things do not live or die by article titles and job descriptions. Heidi and David, thank you very much for your support.
Well done! And a splendid way to start your year.
With one simple move you now have the attention of both Major Parties and you’ve made the lives of those who would pigeon-hole you a lot more complex.
I see a year of happy reading ahead. 2013 is looking better already.
Gareth, you have made a wise choice. I believe that this will give you the freedom to express your views without any constraints. As mature individuals, it is understandable to move forward rather than stagnate but at the same time remain supportive to the values you have followed. Good luck Gareth in your chosen path……exciting times ahead!
